My entry into the fascinating world of business began as a representative for the Wilshire Chamber of Commerce in Los Angeles. I loved my job! Nothing thrilled me more than watching entrepreneurs turn their ideas and skills into successful enterprises.
Then the recession hit. Ouch! With few options, and their life savings gone, many business owners had to close their doors. It broke my heart and made me puzzled. I asked myself a pivotal question: Why is it, that with 7 billion people on the planet, so many are struggling to make ends meet? Obviously an important resource has been overlooked—each other!
I thought of all the people I knew who could support each other’s businesses—if only they knew where to find each other. Maybe my friend who owned the travel agency might have survived with a few key referrals from the embassy consulate I’d recently met. If only I had thought sooner to introduce them.
Life changed. I started my own PR firm in 2000. With God’s help, I secured media coverage for clients on major networks including ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CNN, NPR, Clear Channel and Radio-One. I learned a lot working in media, but the idea of connecting businesses together never left my mind.
In 2009, I began testing my idea to turn networking into a business. Leveraging my connections, I built an extensive network of professionals (primarily in the healthcare, financial, real estate, media and entertainment markets), ministries and nonprofits—and the people they knew.
Regardless of the economy, money and resources will always flow through people. Referrals and introductions are still the most effective way to attract business. Right now the people you are looking for are looking for you. It is my passion and honor to help you find them!
